Running skirt convert

Welcome February!  Another year is just whizzing by!  Is it me or is it getting progressively colder instead of warmer??  That trusty groundhog better not see his shadow tomorrow or he's got some explaining to do!

I am not sure why but I've always been against running skirts.  I can't explain it.  I think they look great on others but I didn't think they were for me.  A lovely Christmas Eve discussion with family led to this being purchased:

The Minnie Skirt!
I committed to perform a rookie mistake during the Goofy Challenge: wear something new & untried.  Was I risking it?  Yes, but I had this feeling that the runners/walkers I know who are committed to skirts may be onto something.

Maybe.

I never took it out for a spin.  I didn't wash it.  I just packed it and headed to Florida.  I did pack an extra pair of shorts "just in case" and I did wear it on a test drive to Epcot the day before The Donald.  I was pleased!  Granted, I didn't racewalk in it that Friday morning, but I did move around in it and it didn't ride up or move around.  It was heaven!  I knew immediately I'd be okay Saturday morning.

Pre-race
What did I love about my SparkleSkirt?  It stayed put.  I got a lot of warnings that some of the skirts do ride up from time to time but I didn't experience that at all.  There are two large pockets on each leg that you put stuff in.  When Amanda & I got close to the finish of the half, I was able to take my headphones off and put them in one of the pockets.  They were out of my way and stayed in!  When we started, I slipped my sports beans in one of the legs and they were easy to get to!  So. Much. Storage.  There was even a zipper pocket on the back!  This girl was so addicted to the skirt, I went to the expo that afternoon to find another.  Alas, since my experience was with Sparkle Skirts, that is what I wanted but they weren't at this Expo.

I was so in love, I almost wore it again Sunday.  Almost.  Had it not been coated in a big layer of sweat & salt, it would have been on my body.

Maybe I'll branch out and try another brand but for now, I'm planning on buying another just plain black one to wear this summer.

I've decided that the reason these skirts are the best is that they are named after our first dog, Sparkle.  I am sure the owners of SparkleSkirts knew and loved our girl.

No?  You don't think so?

By the way, could someone hurry up and turn the heat back up outside so I can wear this again???  Yes, really.

Have you tried a running skirt?

  1. I will argue that not all skirts look good on people but hey if they like to look like glitter pens on the trail who am I to judge! I will say I do like my 1 running skirt too though...

  3. I'm sure you've heard me talk or seen me write about them, but I LOVE skirts! I've never tried Sparkle Skirts...hmmm...might need to try! I like Brooks and RunningSkirts.com best so far. I just got a Nike one and it worked well on the TM, so we'll see how it goes outside.

  6. Did you buy the sparkle skirt that has the shorts built in or just the skirt by itself? I am debating on which one to order for myself!

    1. Shorts built in. I don't really care for how the other way looks.
